Sustainable Innovation in the Heart of Agriculture

In the province of Mantua, Italy, an innovative and sustainable photovoltaic plant combines clean energy and agriculture. Accompanied by Dario Faccini, we explore this elevated structure, which stands 4.5 meters high and allows the passage of farm vehicles and athletes while providing summer shading to optimize agricultural yields. This technology represents a step forward from traditional photovoltaic systems, contributing to the reduction of dependence on fossil fuels and the fight against climate change. The plant integrates photovoltaic power generation with agricultural activity, enabling farmers to maintain their daily practices. Angoli emphasizes the importance of leveraging Italy's vast plains to produce renewable energy and become a leader in energy exports. However, he highlights the need to overcome bureaucratic barriers to promote the adoption of this technology. Giancarlo Ghidini explains the benefits of the elevated structure for tested crops such as grapes, tomatoes, and kiwis, which avoid heat stress thanks to the shading. Using the SPAD 502 instrument, it is possible to optimize fertilization programs and maintain crop health.
